In Montreal, on December 2005 Simple Plan announced the creation of the Simple Plan Foundation.
The foundation focuses on teen problems ranging from suicide to poverty to drug addiction.
The foundation believes that the practice of music can be helpful for kids to find a passion in life, keeping them away from street gangs and criminality, and preventing school dropping.
The band’s members are aware of the problems faced by teenagers. They are even more familiar with these problems as they are in constant touch with their fan base.
The Simple Plan Foundation has made its first donations in 2008. They raised $100 000, and gave it to different charities organizations. Since then they have been giving money to charities every year. And every year amount of money is bigger. In 2011 and 2012 it was more than $300 000.
Since 2008, it’s a total of $700 000 that has been donated.
In 2012, to mark the band’s tenth anniversary, the book Simple Plan: The Official Story was released, which was used as a fundraiser for the Simple Plan Foundation.
The Simple Plan Foundation is primarily constituted by the band members,since their profession requires them to travel often, they have set up a managing committee to look after the day to day activities and report to them regularly.The members of the Board of directors and the collaborators are all volunteers, so, the donations are entirely devoted to the charities supported by the foundation
